Young apprentice knight who wants nothing more than to be fully inducted into the order. Loyal to a fault, he believes in the sovereignty of the Dande people, and of their right to the drum in the midst of the ongoing civil unrest that is tearing the empire apart.
Role and Occupation
A Barwe Tonga Knight.
Age:
20
Motivation
His motivation is to prove himself worthy. He has a need for love and belonging.
Core Wound
Being separated from his parents at a tender age.
Backstory
He grew up in one of the villages outside the city. During the wars with the Singo clan, his parents were captured and sold into slavery. He managed to escape, and made it to the safety of Zvongombe City after concealing himself beneath a corpse for two days. When he got to Zvongombe City, Hondo took him in and brought him up as his own son.
Main Fear or Picture of Unhappiness
His biggest fear is being abandoned by his foster family, represented mainly by Hondo. He feels he was incredibly lucky to have found a father in Hondo and the last thing he wants is to lose him.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
He's really good at imitating bird calls, and also at brewing beer. He totally sucks at memorizing history - like clan names, etc. And this is an area where Dzugudini helps him out in the second act.
Likes & Dislikes
He loves eating, and hates admitting when he is wrong.
Virtues & Personality Strengths
Affectionate, courageous, empathetic, nurturing, protective, unselfish.
Vices & Personality Flaws
Impulsive, insecure, suspicious, workaholic.

A ritual whereby the is used to make rain after the sacrifice of a girl from the tribe.
Before the arrival of the ngoma, the people would ask a masked priest to perform the rainmaking ceremony. Slowly, they lost faith in the priests after an extended drought that lasted several years. When the ngoma was brought to the Empire, all that was required to bring rain was the offering of prayers to Mwari and the the beating of the drum. Rain would fall almost as soon as the Mutapa began to play the drum. But after a number of years, the ngoma required more and more cajoling.
The Mutapa had to beat it for over an hour, the priests had to pray for two days prior to the ceemony, offering animal sacrifices. Eventually, even those began to fail and Mutapa Chimedza decided that only human sacrifice would work. He began the practice of sacrificing Chidima girls.
Now the process is as follows:
A Chidima girl is sacrificed to Mwari and a clean cotton cloth that has never been used before is soaked in her blood and wrung out three times. This cloth is draped over the ground in the Yard of the Ancestors, and the ngoma placed on top of it. Then the priests will offer payers while the people sing, asking for rain.
Finally, the Mutapa will step forward onto the blood-soaked cloth and begin to beat the drum. He will be wearing a mask to indicate his transformation into rainmaker. The skies should darken while he plays and he is expected to continue playing until rain falls. But now, despite the sacrifices, the ngoma no longer works.
